TSH alone is a useless marker for thyroid function.
In order to accurately assess thyroid function he need to get TSH, free T4, free T3, thryoid anti-bodies, (TPO and TGO) and reverse T3 tested.
You can have a normal TSH but low free T4 and/or low free T3 and/or elevated thyroid antibodies and/or elevated reverse T3 (which is inactive).
This is especially true if you have sluggish thyroid symptoms such as constipation, coldness, fatigue, weight gain, hair or eyebrow lost.
If your doctor refuses to test all of these, or continues to only test TSH saying that it is a “full thyroid panel”, then it's time to get another doctor.
